Sara Canals (Andorra, 1990) is a TV host and broadcast journalist specialised in global affairs (Fulbright Scholar Alumni, New York University). She is currently the Washington DC correspondent for Cadena SER, Spain's leading radio station.

 

Prior to the United States, Canals was based in Paris, where she worked as a freelance correspondent for Spanish media (Telecinco, Cadena SER, eldiario.es) as well as global networks (BBC World Service, Alianza Informativa Latinoamericana). Key coverage includes the French 2022 Presidential election, the Bataclan trial and France's handling of the pandemic. 
 

Based in Barcelona from 2017 to 2020, Sara Canals also became a frequent contributor to the BBC and CNN on topics regarding Spain and Catalonia. She reported on the 2017 Barcelona terror attacks, the 2019 Spanish General Election and the ongoing Catalan Independence Crisis.

As a TV presenter, Canals hosted 'LaLiga News' (Mediapro) from 2018 to 2020, a daily live show covering the Spanish Football League for a global english-speaking audience in Africa, Europe and America. Previously, she presented FC Barcelona’s show 'Inside Barça' broadcasted in the United States. 

Sara Canals is a Fulbright Scholar and holds a MS in Global Affairs from the New York University (NYU). While living in New York, she worked at the United Nations, NY1 News, and directed and produced documentaries on the ground in Cuba, Costa Rica and Panama. Canals also reported for 8TV, TV3, La Vanguardia, Onda Cero, and Ràdio i Televisió d’Andorra.

Canals received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Blanquerna’s School of Communications and International Relations, where she teaches a Masterclass in Global Leadership and Communications. The School awarded her with the 'Alumni Ambassador Award' (2020).
